[ junsu stares down at what sage laid out, sits back on the chair to touch lightly with the tip of a finger. he doesn't really feel worthy of sage's protection. he's pretty sure sage could sell this at an exorbitant price to the right people, too.
the allure of having protection charms on him is really, really strong. ]
Mmhmmm. [ that makes something in his gut twist; a reminder that Junsu thought that Sage would kick him out. that he thinks that Sage doesn't like him, that--
ow.
his attention is back on the tea when he feels water against his fingers, hissing a small curse because he stopped paying attention a second too long. at least it was his tea that he spilt, and not much either. just a bit too vigorous with the stirring. the witch sighs and puts the spoon away, picking up the mugs and moving over to the table, setting the one mug for Junsu down near his chair. then, the witch all but curls up in his own, folding over himself, fingers wrapped around his mug.]
Protection. Strength if you wanted them. [ a pause, breathe in. breathe out. ] I spoke to Minsu and-- well I owe you an apology.
[ sage is being nice. really nice. the paranoia returns when he sits down and speaks of an apology. maybe he's just going to nicely tell him to pack his bags. maybe he'll be sorry and apologize but tell him he has to go.
he wraps a hand around the mug of tea, too hot to hold but doing so anyway.
sage must know, too. if he spoke to minsu about him, he must know junsu's human. maybe that's why he's apologizing for sending him back out there.
[ and this is why they need to talk wow. Sage pulls his gaze from his tea to look at Junsu so that he can see how much he means what he is saying.]
For making you think that you didn't have a permanent spot here. For making you think that you being accepted here was somehow conditional on you being something else.
[ he never wants anyone to feel that way, ever.]
I know that you haven't told many people that you're human but, I will personally hex anyone that is a dick about it okay? I know we aren't really close but-- well Minsu loves you so that means you have to be a great person. [ a small laugh. ] And I'm also sorry if I made you think that I don't like you. I just-- I'm not the best with people in general.
this is so far from what he expected. he wants to cry. sage feels bad for... doing nothing wrong, essentially, because he never did anything that made junsu believe he would do this. he just feared it would, because he's always been afraid, and when good things come his way it's his nature to think of all the ways it'll be taken from him. ]
Sage... It wasn't all you, you know. [ he wants to be clear about that. ] I just get... paranoid, and afraid. I have more experience with magical people thinking humans are nothing to them than caring about them.
[ so it's easy to assume that's what everyone will think. he's heard it, even, from some of them here directly.
sage is showing how kind and good he is. it's amazing, because it makes junsu feel a little relieved. but it also makes him feel guiltier. ]
