[ He's not going to argue, though. He hands over the books, all used and tired and smelling just perfect. He doesn't mind if Junsu wants to pay for them, and if it makes him happy. He's not going to get into an argument with him about money.
Not when they're having such a good time. ]
I'll get you your coffee later. And - what do you prefer? Danish? Cinnamon bun? Almond croissant? What's your poison?
[ junsu's really happy about the lack of arguing. he takes the books and tucks them against his chest, smiling soft and pleased. ]
Biscotti? [ he likes those. he'll let kwang buy, this way the date was really a them thing, both of them equally treating the other. junsu finds he likes that a lot. the sense of balance, of being the same.
he starts weaseling his way between the rows to head back to the front cash, quickly paying for the books and handing kwang his bag with a brilliant smile. ]
[ Kwang follows as Junsu walks through the shop and then waits as he pays, only able to grin back when the other hands him the bag, looking so happy it's impossible not to beam right back at him.
If it made him that happy to pay, too, Kwang was definitely not going to complain about it. He knew all about how treating others could bring such pleasure. Wrapping his hand around Junsu's when he hands him the bag, Kwang pulls him closer, for another quick, soft kiss, heedless of the shopkeeper. ]
[ he's as unbothered by the public display as can be. it's not dramatic enough to draw too much attention, and how could he not like a kiss from kwang, how could he not be happy after he let him buy him books?
now kwang owns something that junsu gifted him. it's like he's making a place in his life beyond his own presence. he likes that. ]
[ Kwang likes it, too. Likes having something that Junsu got for him, that he can keep and cherish. Maybe he's going to have to find a way to give him something he can keep, too, and already some ideas are floating around in his head about it.
He's going to have to do some research.
Grinning, he nods, taking Junsu's hand in his own as they start walking out of the shop again. ]
Coffee. And - we can come back here, anytime. I do hope they never go out of business, it'd be a terrible loss.
[ Kwang looks around the coffee shop when they make their way inside. It's warm and cozy, a little vintage. Music from much before the war is playing as they weave their way around to find a table in a corner.
He puts the bag down on the table as he gives the shop another look, spotting the large pastries display by the counter with a grin. ]
No, never. I don't come into town too often, actually. Sit, I'll go order.
[ He does, getting them a couple extra pastries along with Junsu's biscotti, and coffees, bringing it all back on a tray, hands steady. When he's done, he settles across from Junsu, leaning over the table a bit. ]
Thank you, [ junsu smiles as he takes his coffee and a biscotti, taking a sip with a content sigh.
normally that sort of question would immediately drive junsu to lock up shop and close up. he has never liked personal questions. he doesn't really like to get personal. or at least he didn't, after the war and before coming here.
now things are changing, and he doesn't think kwang suspects anything about his magic, wonders instead what kind of question it might be. ]
[ Kwang nods, biting the inside of his lip for a second before asking the question. He knows it might be a difficult thing to answer, and so he takes his time, trying to find the right words. ]
Earlier, when we were in the bookshop, you said something. You said you didn't get to read much, when you were back in jail. What - I didn't know you'd been. Would you tell me why?
[ he was so scared, he doesn't even remember if he was charged with anything, if they used justice or just rumours and claims. all he can remember is being terrified, more than ever before, like the war was back. ]
Blabbed I wasn't human around too many ears, I guess. Maybe someone told on me, or maybe someone I asked for shelter was undercover.
[ he shrugs, hands curled around his coffee cup. ]
[ Sorry that he drudged up bad memories, that Junsu had to go through it at all. That he'd had to face untrustworthy people, and how it must have changed his perception of everyone. ]
For what it's worth, I know the feeling. Of being imprisoned. So if you ever need an understanding ear, I'm here.
[ he nods, smiling a bit. he prefers thinking about that than his time in jail. he doesn't mention it often for a reason, because thinking about it makes him feel boxed in again, because being that terrified in such an enclosed, suffocating space had been a living nightmare.
and it's over. why would he linger on it? he smiles a bit, taking another sip of coffee before speaking gently. ]
[ Kwang's mouth goes a little dry. Even though he invited the question, it's still a hard one to answer, to think back on. He takes a deep breath, looking down at his coffee, and then back up at Junsu, nodding. ]
I have. By the one who gave me -
[ He motions to his back, telling without any words. Junsu knows. He's seen the wounds. ]
He was. Insane, really. But also an excellent liar, and I fell for it hook, line and sinker, when we first met. But his true nature was very different than what he'd shown me before. But by the time I realized that, it was too late.
[ jesus. junsu's face falls a little, and he reaches for kwang's hand. he swallows back any fear, kicked up by his words, by how they could be applied to junsu, too. of course it's different, of course he would never want to hurt kwang, but now he sees why kwang might have a harder time with junsu's truth, if it was to ever come out.
[ His fingers squeeze Junsu's, and he shakes his head, smiling, a little sadly. ]
In a way, I feel like it was necessary? It led me to the life I now lead. If it hadn't happened, where would I be now? I don't know. But I like being here. I like being with you.
[ the smile this causes is bashful, almost shy. it's nice to hear something like that. even on a date, it takes him a little by surprise. it scares him, too, but he's greedy and selfish and right now doesn't want to think about why.
only soak in the words, and kwang's warm hand against his. ]
I like being with you too. This has been... [ he can't even say a good date. it's the best date. ] The best.
[ Not willing to let go of Junsu's hand, Kwang uses his free one to take another sip of coffee. There's a lot he'd like to say, about how he'd like to protect Junsu from any potential harm that could come his way and how he wants to keep making him smile like this, and smile more, more open and happy every day.
But all of it feels either too much, or like he'd ruin the mood of the date. So he keeps it all down for now, just smiles at Junsu, ridiculously pleased that his date idea went down well. ]
I'm glad. I'm sorry we couldn't find the book you wanted, though, but I might have an idea on how to get it somewhere else. [ He's not telling you just yet, though. He's making plans in his head, right now. ]
Also, I won't lie. I wanted to do a lot more than just kiss you, back there.
[ junsu is fine with not letting go of each other's hands. he doesn't really want to, right now. he doesn't talk about being imprisoned much, and neither of them went too detailed about it, but it's nice to know... he does get how it feels, the suffocating, claustrophobic way your mind shrinks when you think back on it.
it's good to know. he's glad to leave those thoughts behind, and he'll deal with the new layer of fear later. this date is too good to ruin. ]
[ It's not really something that Kwang likes to think back on too much, either. And if he does, in a place like this, full of humans and incredibly public, he runs a pretty huge risk if he keeps on talking about it. Talking about Xylnan tended to make the wings want to come out, and, well.
He can't do that in the middle of a coffee shop, now, can he?
So really, talking about having public sex is a safer topic. Funny how that goes.
Still, his voice is very soft and low when he speaks next, his smile very knowing. ]
If it'd been just us... I'd gone on my knees, right there and then. Push you back against a shelf full of books as I go down on you.
[ junsu giggles, louder than he'd intended to, quickly putting his hand near his mouth, fingers curling there. his cheeks flush, too, as he glances around, but not for long, gaze drawn back to kwang and the things he's saying. ]
That would've been... really nice. [ he looks at kwang's mouth now, explicitly. ] You're really skilled. Woudl've been hard to stay quiet.
[ Kwang chuckles, waggling his eyebrows for a second, silly and not caring that he is. They're having fun, being a little reckless, talking like this in public, and it's good to let go, to allow the teasing.
Keeping an eyebrow raised, Kwang touches his tongue to his bottom lip as Junsu looks at him. ]
Say we were to suddenly both need to use the restroom, think you'd be able to stay quiet?
[ junsu bites his lip, biting back a grin as eyes kwang, dropping his hand from his mouth. there's still something a little shy on his face. this would definitely fall in the reckless category.
[ it's possibly the longest minute of junsu's life. he sits with his coffee, tries to look casual and calm as he sips it, shifts in his seat. he counts it down in his head, wonders if kwang will have started touching himself, or if he'll have waited. both ideas make him want to stand and get to him immediately.
but he waits. a full minute. then he walks, calmly and slowly, toward the bathroom. he's a little less calm when he opens it and steps inside. ]
[ Kwang waited. He leaned back against the sink and stared at the door, like it could will time to move faster. Anticipation was rushing through his veins, making him smile to himself, but in an almost nervous, electric way.
He loved this, the rush of it. And he loves seeing Junsu appear, locking the door behind him. Kwang's smile grows bigger and he reaches out for Junsu, pulling him closer with a hand fisted in the front of his shirt. ]
Felt like forever.
[ He leans in, kissing Junsu with all this electricity and anticipation and desire coursing through him, still grinning into it. ]
